12 DAY STANDARD SAFARI AND ZANZIBAR


Day 1 - Arusha

As you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a representative from TAPAC Safaris will be there to meet you, holding a sign with your name on it.

From here, you will transfer to Ilboru Safari Lodge, which is located on a beautiful coffee plantation on the outskirts of Arusha town.


As you arrive at the lodge, Fredrik, owner and manager of TAPAC Safaris will have a pre - safari brief with you, going through the safari with you. Here he will cover general information for the safari, safety on safari, general rules and what you might get to experience.

Day 2 – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at the lodge, you drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day safari within the park.


Tarangire National Park is famous for its massive baobab trees and for holding the largest herds of elephants in East Africa. 


Lunch will be in the shade of your canvas roof of the vehicle, enjoying a complimentary bottle of red and/or white wine while eating a great homemade lunch from TAPAC Safaris.

In the afternoon, you will leave the park and drive to Maramboi Tented Camp for a nice sunset drink while watching a stunningly beautiful sunset over the rift valley in the distance.

Day 3 – Tarangire National Park

Enjoy your breakfast while watching wildebeest, zebras and other antelopes graze around the camp. After breakfast, you will go for a short walking safari, in the nearby area and to Lake Manyara.

Return to the lodge for lunch, before going on an afternoon safari in Tarangire National Park.

Day 4 – Tarangire – Serengeti National Park

 

After breakfast at the camp, you will slowly make your way to Serengeti National Park, via Ngorongoro Conservation area.

You will have the option of stopping at Oldupai Gorge (important archaeological site in Tanzania, often called “the cradle of mankind&rdquo, and you will have a nice private lunch under your shaded canvas roof from the vehicle.

As you enter Serengeti National Park you will have a short afternoon safari as you slowly make your way to Ang’Ata Serengeti Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Serengeti National Park

 

Full day in Serengeti National Park. Either as a long game drive with picnic lunch or as several shorter game drives and a hot lunch back at the camp. It is completely up to you.

 

Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly one of the most famous national parks in the world and combined with Ngorongoro Conservation area to the east and the Masai Mara Game Reserve in the North it holds one of the last wildlife migrations on earth. More than 2 million animals migrate between these parks every year in search of water and green pastures.

The park also holds about 3000 lions, and there is a good chance of spotting the king of the jungle as well as other big predators such as hyenas, leopards and cheetahs.

 

 

In the afternoon you will return to the camp for a sunset drink around the bonfire, before a delicious dinner.

Day 6 – Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation area and the Ngorongoro Crater

 

Enjoy your breakfast in a beautiful and tranquil setting, before going on a short safari as you are leaving Serengeti National Park, entering Ngorongoro Conservation area and the world famous Ngorongoro Crater.

Spend half the day on safari on the crater floor, with lunch at a designated picnic spot.

 

Ngorongoro Crater is a truly amazing place and a must for anyone who visits Tanzania.

A 3-year-old collapsed volcano has created a unique eco system like nowhere else.

Within the crater, a thriving wildlife population exists, with the highest density of predatory mammals in Africa.

Lions are the king of the crater floor, but the plentiful Hyenas are not easy to scare.

This is also on of very few parks in the Northern Safari Circuit where you have the chance of seeing Africa’s Big 5, the lion, the elephant, the leopard, the buffalo and the endangered black rhino.

 

In the late afternoon, you will ascend the crater wall and drive to Ang’Ata Ngorongoro Camp for a sunset drink around the bonfire, before dinner and overnight here.

Day 7 – Ngorongoro Conservation area – Arusha - Zanzibar


After breakfast at the camp you will leave Ngorongoro, heading back to Arusha and Arusha airport for your early afternoon flight to Zanzibar.

As you arrive on Zanzibar a representative from The Z Hotel will pick you up and transfer you to their lodge.

Spend the rest of the day on Zanzibar. Relax on the beach, along the pool, or try one of Zanzibar’s many activities such as snorkeling, guided reef and village tours, kayaking, dhow boat trips, bicycle tours, spice island tours, tours to Stonetown, walking safari in Jozani forest and many more.

Day 8 – Zanzibar

 

Spend the full day on Zanzibar. Relax on the beach, along the pool, or try one of Zanzibar’s many activities such as snorkeling, guided reef and village tours, kayaking, dhow boat trips, bicycle tours, spice island tours, tours to Stonetown, walking safari in Jozani forest and many more.

Day 9 - 11 – Zanzibar

 

Spend the full day on Zanzibar. Relax on the beach, along the pool, or try one of Zanzibar’s many activities such as snorkeling, guided reef and village tours, kayaking, dhow boat trips, bicycle tours, spice island tours, tours to Stonetown, walking safari in Jozani forest and many more.

Day 12 – Zanzibar – Arusha - Home

 

Spend half the day on Zanzibar, before you in the afternoon will transfer to Zanzibar International Airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro Int. Airport. Once you arrive here, you wait for your connecting flight back home.
